Sanjey Wijewardena

Sanjey Wijewardena, Chartered Structural Engineer at Toro Engineering holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (HONS) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a member of Engineers Australia, Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

Joining Toro Engineering in July 2023, Sanjey applies his expertise across the mining, renewables, commercial, and residential industries. His role involves detailed structural designs, quality assurance of structural drawings, and collaborating with the wider engineering team and designers to ensure comprehensive project execution. His key projects at Toro Engineering include the West Musgrave NPI Facilities and the Kansanshi S3 Detail Design Project, focusing on reinforced concrete and structural steelwork.

Before joining Toro Engineering, Sanjey honed his skills at URO Structural Consultants in Sri Lanka, working on diverse projects such as the Nasandura Hotel in the Maldives and the Medical Faculty of Wayamba University. His responsibilities included developing structural schemes, conducting design coordination meetings, and providing structural solutions for refurbishment projects.

His career began with a trainee position at the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau in Sri Lanka, where he gained practical experience in site supervision and quality control. His comprehensive experience, both in Australia and overseas, ensures that he brings a rounded perspective to every project he is involved in at Toro Engineering.
