Ravi Madhavan

Ravi Madhavan is a highly accomplished Principal Structural Engineer with over 37 years of experience delivering complex structural engineering solutions across the mining, industrial, oil & gas, and marine sectors. He holds a Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), NER/APEC IntPE (Aus), and RPEQ accredited professional, with Victoria, Western Australia, and Northern Territory registrations currently in progress.

Ravi specialises in the conceptual and detailed design of large-scale steel and concrete structures, with extensive expertise in mining and Bulk Materials Handling (BMH) infrastructure, including conveyors, primary crushing and screening facilities, balanced machines, reclaimers, stackers, ship loaders, and ship unloaders. He is also highly experienced in brownfield projects, undertaking structural assessments, life extension studies, and upgrade designs for critical operational assets.

His technical expertise includes finite element analysis, nonlinear collapse analysis, dynamic and fatigue assessments, and vibration analysis. He is proficient in engineering software packages including SPACE GASS, Strand7, and ANSYS and has extensive experience applying Australian and international standards, including AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 4324, AISC, ISO, and API codes.

Over his career, Ravi has contributed to major projects for leading resource companies such as Rio Tinto, BHP, Fortescue, South32, and Roy Hill, delivering robust, innovative, and reliable engineering outcomes. His portfolio also includes significant offshore and marine projects for clients such as Woodside, Chevron, and Vermilion, where he has led the design and assessment of offshore, marine, and onshore structures. Having held senior and principal engineering roles with globally recognised organisations including BG&E Resources, Thyssenkrupp, Wood Group PSN, Atkins, Worley, and Clough, Ravi brings deep technical capability combined with practical, hands-on project delivery experience.

He is recognised for his ability to solve complex structural engineering challenges, optimise designs for durability and operational performance, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions in demanding environments.
